View Full Version : Acronym plugin for TASA
Rory - any chance that we can get an acronym plug-in / functionality going for TASA?
Stuff that is aquarium related etc ...
Typically HOB, LFS, LPS, MTS, UGF, PFP, PPI, DOA & HMF are a few that would be good candidates.
One could start a thread and make it a sticky, but an auto explanation on mouse over looks so cool.
Thanks Ferdie
Why? Don't you know what those mean? :p
ROFL -- thanks needed that ..
How's this? Check HOB in your first post.
Edit: Or this post I guess...
Yes! Pls! It would help a lotta noobs along... remember, we haven't all been online all our lives! This was the 1st forum I ever joined, and I've muddled along using common sense, or google when really stumped!
Thanks Rory.
So how do we add to these?
Only admin can add. Who's sending me a list? :D
Will it now be affective in all 'old' posts as well?
Yes - it already is ...
See google
site:tropicalaquarium.co.za HOB
HOB is already done - not only in this thread but all.

Marvellous
TASA will now be a lot more 'beginner friendly'.
Ok. 95 acronyms have been added. You'll have to let me know what's missing, like the 2 unhighlighted ones in the first post... No idea what those are.
I saw this in a post. Root. I think it should be RO?
Erm... ok that's weird... No "root" in db.
Test rotest.
ppmtest
RO
RO/DI
rot
root
95 acronyms have been added
thanks Rory
Let me guess. "Root" was put in, in error. The explanation was Reverse Osmosis, short and sweet. Then the error was spotted and corrected, with an explanation of, Reverse Osmosis, type of water purification. But the first "root' was already applied to the database. The correction was added as a new acronym. However, the script file does not show the first one anymore, as it was corrected. I suppose to fix it, the data has to be erased completely and re-applied through the script file. Do I make sense?
No. The highlighting is done as the thread/post is viewed so there's no caching or anything. There never was a "root" entry in the database. RO and RO/DI are the only ones that look anything like it.
The two 'explanations' is different.
Reverse Osmosis
Reverse Osmosis, type of water purification.
Rory - below the two missing from the initial list.
PPI = pores per inch, foam density
HMF = Humburg Mat Filter
Then a local one:
DSD = Dirk's Secret Drops, Aquatic Plant Fertilizers developed by Professor Bellstedt

I think the FF would eat the eggs
What is FF? Fancy Female, F..... Female?
BS = Brine shrimp not on the list. Newbie might thing Bull S..
Stuff makes so much more sense in the morning... Practically turned on pc and saw what the problem was this morning. Thanks Tom for your help!
The problem for those that are interested:
There was an entry for "R.O." and obviously the plugin is using regular expressions to do the text matching and a . means any character so R.O. would match R(anything)O(anything) like ROOT. Fixed now to be R\.O\. which matches the . literally.
Will add those now Ferdie. And BS. You'll have to ask Zoom that Tom ;)
Do not know what I did to help, as I was way off the mark. But it was a pleasure, anyway!
I believ FF was meant for Flying Fox.
You'll have to ask Zoom that Tom

in context.. FF meant exactly that: Flying Fox!
@ Vis,go have a look at the Barr report,Tom Barr's site.In it there are multiple examples of hobbyists using EI in low tech setups.
OK, what is EI? I could google, but hey, you guys are spoiling us now, so why change? hehe
EI = Estimative Index. Tom Barr's theory. It's controversial!
controversial!
Not really, maybe it was but a lot of peple are using it. Its almost suggested as the norm these days.
