: My all male Guppy tank
Just before selling my 15 year old Guppy culture, I randomly caught out some males for an inside tank… here they are…..

Very nice tank. I always thought guppies were the lowest of the low. But it seems some people take real pride in there guppies. Has this effect grown on me....?

Anubias is a very slow grower - thats a very long rizome
Cheetah - those are guppies gems.
Khalid.... You must personally know Slayer..... (You both live in the same area) he is the proud new owner of my Guppy culture.... 15 years of descendants from 3 males and 5 females living in an outside pond... I just hope they're doing for him what they did for me..... (I removed some of the males at regular intervals and those grew better, stronger and much better individuals than I've ever seen in pet stores)
Oh!.... and btw.... you guys are quite sharp on the plant id's..... well done..... to the "T".....
Looks good, i got a culture of about 2 years and have the same color variants. It was the first fish i ever kept, got a soft spot for them.
Yes we have met, Slayer and I are friends.
Slayer coincidentally also has/had 100 odd of my guppies last winter.
Regarding the male/female separation you definitely correct. Without the females, male guppies are just 100% eating machines.

One goes through cycles of interest! I started off with a pair of sword guppies in a tank given as a birthday present when I was in std 1 and I have the descendants of that pair still! I progressed to breeding platties, swords and mollies and when I reached high school started with egg layers, starting with rosy barbs, anabantids, angels and finally managed to breed some cardinal tertras around 1969 with water from a river near Hermanus. I belonged to the aquarium club in Bellville and was told at the time I was only the third to breed cardinals in South Africa! Then I went to university and did not have time for tropicals, but still kept one tank with guppies. Had it not been for this tank, I might have lost interest totally, but then I slowly started fetching my empty tanks out of the garage. Nowadays I again do not have the time, but I still have my 2 tanks with guppies. Since joining this forum and reading about others breeding their fish varieties, I am very tempted to start experimenting again. The empty tanks are still in the garage, so who knows, maybe one of these days I will be active again.
You may think guppies as lowly, but every type of fish has its interesting points. Guppies need very little care and especially my sword guppies are extremely active, chasing the females all the time. With a cory or two and a red tailed shark you have a conversation piece in the lounge you basicly only need to touch maybe once a year to clean. There are times when you cannot give the attention that the breeding of egg layers need and guppies are then an ideal solution! I think I must upgrade myself to some Endlers soon. LOL!
Ha! Ha!.... Yep!.... once in your blood, the urge is always there.... Good luck with your return venture.
The humble Guppy is often overlooked by advanced fishkeepers, but remains one of the most stunning looking fish in the hobby.
You have some great looking fish there.
I keep mainly softwater fish, but recently set up a small tank with just Male Guppies in it. They look stunning.
Thats really stunning tank you have there for your guppy males.
where did you find such stunning guppy's ? ? ?
