Yeah man you can use them but 2 it not nearly enough you will need at least 6 if you plant to grow proper plants...

Osram has a tube called a 'Biolux Tube' ask your local electrical shop for a L36 colour 990 or 950, their rep says it's 96% daylight. I've just ordered 4 of them for my tank.... (Plus a s*^t load of sunglasses for the fish....
P.S. I buy electrical goods for a living.....
Hi
Sorry to reply to this so late. I see it's an old thread. I have one of those Osram Fluora bulbs. But I combine it with Osram Skywhite and Osram Daylight bulbs. The Fluora bulb has a lumen output of 1450, which means nothing to plants really, as the lumen scale is used to measure light intensity as seen by humans. It certainly has the correct colour spectrum to achieve a good PAR. I can send you a PDF with more info on this bulb if you'd like to read up.

where did you get the Osram Skywhite?
DIY Electrical in Port Elizabeth. They can order any Osram tube that the wholesalers import. It is about R15 more that equivalent wattage Cool white or Daylight tubes. You should be able to get any decent lighting retailer to order for you.

I've tried that with not much luck!
Just to confirm, this is the 8000K tube?
Yes, 36W T8 Skywhite 880 (=8000K colour)
I don't know if they import T5's...

In JHB
tried lamphouse, lightsrus, voltex, lohuis and radiant. and if I remember right, I think eventually called Osram to ask who stocks the stuff and they said its not being imported :amazed:
So, if anyone comes across Osram 8000k 54W T5's PLEASE let me know.
Thx

Strange, I got my skywhites ie 8000k from Lamphouse, but they are 39w. I really hope they haven't discontinued, I need more for my new lighting pendant
