Try the Waterzoo, I am sure Altum can organize some for you.
Green Tetras - Panorama Pets
Rainbow Tetras - sure I saw some at Fish 'n Thingz
Blue Tetra - Tropical Amazon had the blue tetras last week....
Cheers guy n Gal....
Vee... are you sure the Green Tetras were not Green Neons?? I didn't notice any when I was last there? Any idea which tanks roughly?
Is Tropical Amazon the one you PM'd me the address to? Can't remember right now??
And again, I'm assuming that fish n things is the one in Bothasig? I dunno of any others?
Cheers
Big G!
Oops - sorry you are right, had a rough day at work today...they were green NEONS.
Fish 'n Things - yip that is correct. With regards to Tropical Amazon....eish, as you know I can't give details here but you know how to contact me :)

But then Paracheirodon simulans are green neons, so Vee is quite correct, which fish are you actually looking for? These fish are available in the Western Cape.
January Tetra - Hemigrammus hyanuary I have never seen these in SA.
Flag Tetra - Hyphessobrycon heterorhabdus I have not seen these for at least 20 years in SA, they are just not colourful enough.
Dawn Tetra - Aphyocharax paraguayensis are never sold as such, but I have seen them imported by chance with cardinals. You won't see them listed though.
Cochus Blue Tetra - Boehlkea fredcochui are often available and you just need to keep your eyes open for them. I have even seen them in Somerset West, so they must be commonly available.
Kind regards,
Dirk
Try Rowland. I now he brought in a shipment of Tetras
Ok, thanx folks! I'll post some pics of the actual fish I'm looking for. I'm sure the green tetra is different from the green Neon unless I'm very mistaken and think the green neon is something else, but I guess that the pics will show that? I'll double check the Latin name, but I'm sure I had it right! Anyhow, until I can post the pics.... Cheers!

Ok, I got hold of some pics off da net, so here goes....
1- Paracheirodon Simulans - Green Tetra... It appears that you are all right about the green Neon, although the pic I saw below from 'green neon' didn't quite look like a green neon!

2- Nematobrycon Lacortei - Rainbow tetra... Almost an emporer tetra with a hint of rainbow!

Zafgak, the pic of those Cochus blue is not correct, they are mostly not that blue. They are available often, so keep your eyes open.
The Danio is a recent discovery and I am not seen it in SA before.
Kind regards,
Dirk
Thanx Dirk - Will keep an eye out - I saw a similar fish (possibly same one) this week labelled as royal blue tetras

Yip, that sounds like them, they look miserable in the shops but do colour up in a darker tank...
Kind regards,
Dirk
