Some might remember this tank of mine from a few months ago

http://www.tropicalaquarium.co.za/showthread.php?4761-My-GBR-tank

In the interim I have removed the BN cat and the Sterbai because I am desperate to get my rams to breed.

I have seen semi spawning behaviour over the last few months but nothing to get excited about until about a week ago when a couple paired off and dug a ditch in the near right hand corner and have been defending it. Having read from all accounts that ram parenting skills are a little lacking we werent about to get our hopes up too high when we saw eggs on the substrate, fully expecting them to be eaten. By the next day we didnt see any eggs and thought our fears confirmed :( But hey, were getting somewhere so its all good.

Imagine how flabbergasted we were when we got home late and switched the lights on. 8 little wrigglers being guarded by vigilant parents. I would say they are about 24hrs old (guesstimate only).

My question is: WHAT THE HELL DO I DO NOW! Do I leave the wrigglers?

At this stage I will be scouring the net for info but that is always a dicey affair. Any helpful advice would be appreciated.

(forgive my excitement :p)

Update, fry still there this morning. Left a nightlight on so the parents can stay vigilant.
I recently set up a 25l tank to move the mating pair to but am now converting it to rather rear the fry in.
Starting an infusoria culture by boiling some grass, will add some rain water I captured and possibly adding a drop or 2 of Liquifry.
Starting a brine shrimp hatchery today as well.

Sorry for the lack of pics but I dont have a camera capable of taking pix of the fry.

More info as it happens

I normally remove the fry(kribs) after 5 days. Good luck.

Is there no-one here with info? Jedigenie called me last night but I couldn't really provide any help other than that the fry should be OK for a few days and after that they will need food. Exactly what type of food is best suited to Ram fry, I do not know.

Well he started the BBS so that would do just fine after a week.

You can feed hard boiled eggs Yolk.
