Is there anything on the market that one can put in your tank that will pick up all the unwanted stuff of the sand so that the filter can pick it up?

My filter is at the top of my tank and the unwanted stuff stays on the ground. Things like fish poop, unwanted food and so on just lies there.

I do take my net and pick it up but certainly there should be something that do this.

well your filters inlet should be close or on the botom, i dont like the sponges on the front of the filters i took some pvc piping and drilled 2mm holes in it with a stop end on front, and create enough flow inside so that all the poop flows in the direction of the filter pickup, "circulation"!!! so direct your filters outlet sothat it creates circulation, thats y i prefer canister filters thats powerful enough

siphon siphon siphon like the rest of us idiots :)
A propper siphon (hose with +/- 25-30mm dia pipe attached to it) will also get the gunk thats in the sand, not just the stuff thats on the surface.
