Hi Guys,
This weekend I went from my beginner 40l tank to my lovely new 160l tank. I put my 21 inhabitants in last night... and before you all go do cartwheels about putting fish into a new tank without cycling for a week etc, let me explain me set up...
Put all the plants/rocks/substrate etc in on Friday. Took half the filter from my old tank to add to the new tank, and took half the water from the old tank into the new. This established the bacteria. I then let the tank cylce from Friday night through to late last night. Then last night i took ALL the filter material from the old tank into the new, and ALL the water from the old into the new. Except for accidentally squashing a Danio against the glass with the net, all the fish seem very happy to have the extra space around, and are very lively and happy. I actually did not think the Danio would survive, as he showed signs of 'bruising', but he's pulled through and playing tag with all the other danios.
This is what I have currently:
7 x Pristella Tetra's
6 x Zebra Danios
4 x Black widow tetra's
2 x Guppy
2 x Cory catfish
1 x Angel
1 x Betta.
(I did not think an angel and beta make suitable tank mates... but they are best friends!!!)
Now having gone from the 40l to the 160l, the tank looks very sparse, and I'd like to get more fish.
What can you guys recommend me to get, taking into account what I already have?
(I'd like to get a shoal of maybe 10-12 neon tetra's... yes, no, maybe???)
I've included a picture of the tank if it helps...
