Yesterday i bought a red light for my Jebo 60 liter because the lps told me it will enhance some of my fishes colours - and so it did. This morning when i woke up my tank had a pinkish colour and no lights were on - i put on the white light and my tank was still Pinkish.

Can this be some type of organism in my tank that has a after glow effect of the red light.

I did a water change last night ( water was strongly smelling like chlorine) can it be chlorine that shows the pinkish colour.

Unfortonately i wanted to take pictures but the camera make the water clear.

What can this be

Nope,no idea here either....

You maybe been feeding a new food or something like cheap red flakes/bits....that is the only stuff I know that gives your water that colour...

I too have experienced pink water. I never did discover why, but it cleared up after a few worried water changes. My water was odourless though.

Yeah now that you mention it, I think that it is red algae

This could be bad.

20Moses and Aaron did as the LORD commanded. In the sight of Pharaoh and in the sight of his servants he(J (http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Exodus+7%3A14-25&version=ESV#cen-ESV-1706J)) lifted up the staff and struck the water in the Nile, and all the(K (http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Exodus+7%3A14-25&version=ESV#cen-ESV-1706K)) water in the Nile turned into blood. 21And the fish in the Nile died, and the Nile stank, so that the Egyptians(L (http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Exodus+7%3A14-25&version=ESV#cen-ESV-1707L)) could not drink water from the Nile

The "red tide" is a phrase that has been applied to a phenomenon when a planktonic organism (often a dinoflagellate) blooms (http://www.lifeinfreshwater.org.uk/Web%20pages/ponds/Bloom.htm) in huge densities such that the water goes red. In most cases the organism is highly poisonous and soon can obliterate the life in the lake. The poison is a liver toxin but it is unclear why teh dinoflagellate produces this.

Last night i cleaned the filter and was suprised to see that when i rinsed the sponges a redish colour was coming out of it. The water is clear now and nothing has died - i think it must be something that absorbed the red light and gave the redish colour.

Afterall this was very weird but it passes and it was harmless.
