I have a 400l tank, with oscars and basic chicklids, I have 2 grey filters in the tank they have 2 sponge cartridge each. I found that 2 week is max for my tank water, it get dirty and it iritates the %$#%$ out of me, can any one help me, I am thinking about a cannister filter...is that a good idea, any other idees to get my water clean?

also, how many fish in total in the tank?

Also describe the actual filters (make and model if possible), flow rate of powerheads, water change routine....

those two internal filters with just sponges will never be enough, spend the money and get a big canister filter.
Make, Model, Liters Per Hour would be nice.
... you need an external power filter with excellent mechanical and biological filtration that has a minimum of 3 to 4 times per hour turnover of your total water volume. but thats not all as with those large fish you must regularly vacuum the gravel and do large water changes as those fish have enormus bio loads... its highly unlikely that those internal grey filters with just a sponge would provide adequate filtration.
