ok ive just ripped apart my 2foot today and inserted seachem Flourite as substrate

The Problem:
I removed my plants from the tank and kept them, but they are coated with algae!

Is there a way to get rid of the algae on the plants before i rid them?

what about a bleach solution dip, will that kill the snail eggs aswell as the algae??

Because ive got some large anubias i want to keep

Regards

Hey Carl, I've used a bleach solution and salt to clean my tank before and the little bit that was left in there destroyed most my plants when I refilled and replanted my tank. It could have been the salt or the bleach but I don't think I'd take the chance again. What I do with algae that works super well is take a dishwashing sponge (but not the anti-bacterial one, just the cheap plain ones) and gently scrape the algae off with the sponge. I used the scouring side gently and it didn't damage my leaves. It's labour intensive but at least you can get almost all the algae off that way.

+1 definately dont use bleach or salt..both can be harmful or deadly to plants.. get an algae eater to do the job maybe?

Hi Carl

One of my plants was covered in algae, what I did was clean it by wiping it clean with my hands under running water which worked really well. William
