Too expensive?
Ja, that's one of the smaller filters, you should be able to get it at that price from a shop.
Depending on your budget, you could get 2 of the eheims for around R1700...
Or a cascade 1200 for around R1200 - R1300.
Do you want to replace your current filtration or just add to it?

Hi,
if it worth doing, it's worth overdoing!
I have a Penplax Cascade 1000
on my 250L tank, but I want
a shoal of scats, so I need
to beef it up. Also a bit
anal over chrystal clear water.
I want to run one filter with
polishing media, and one with biological
media.
Oh right, well in that case, go for the Eheim. It'll give you 1.5 liter of extra filter media volume for a very nice price, I'll PM you ;)

I bought a brand new tetra tec
1200 ex for R 1 100-00.
It's a diesel model.
So any advice on how to
quiten the thing?
try see if there arent any 'air leaks' by the joints of the intake pipe?
air in the impeler is usually the problem of a noisy filter
Like Shihr said air might be the problem.
If air gets trapped in my canister I usually just tilt it a bit to let it escape.

Thanks,
now that youy mention it,
the motor is quiet, but
is sound like a piece of gravel
is trapped in the impeller.
Will check out the air issue.
Thank you for your feedback!
