Hi Everyone, I hope you guys and gals are all well.
I recently got an Eheim 2229 Wet/Dry filter, I bought it second hand but I thought it was the great Eheim so no problem... the filter was in good nick, not damage, it even had all the original cleaning tools that it came with, and the Vaseline o-ring lubricant was still sealed.
The pump works fine... the wet dry action works fine, the water level goes up and down like it should, in the wet cycle (when the float is up) it is whisper quiet, but in the dry cycle (when the float is down) the system makes a horrible noise and I can't figure out why, I've installed it to the mark as the instructions indicate. I've check for moving parts, I've checked all the o-rings, the filter is installed in the height range which the little booklet recommends.
I've emailed the Germans and they don't seem to be very helpful, I just received a reply which regurgitates what the booklet says, I've also tried contacting Daro who are the importers and they are well... lets just leave it at unhelpful...
Today is the first time in a few weeks that I've had chance to re-investigate the situation I've done a complete re-installation and still no luck.
Is there anyone who knows if the noise is normal? or if there might be something I missed? of if there is a service center I can take it to? or a pet shop who will look at it for me and hit me over the head and say you idiot you did this and this wrong...? or even send it to a service center on my behalf, I'm willing to pay for the repairs if there is something wrong.
Like I said the filter works fine, the water flows the wet dry cycle takes place... its just the noise and sadly my tank is in my bedroom so a noisy filter won't work for me...
Any advice or help will be much appreciated.
Regards,
Hans
