Just before I elaborate about these fish, I'll bounce them off you to ensure that they're no blacklisted..... "Astatotilapia LatiFaciata"

Asprotilapia Spp
Astatotilapia Burtoni /Haplochromus Burtoni (Burton's Mouthbrooder)
Astatotilapia Calliptera (Eastern Happy)

Regardless about how easily they may breed, sometimes the environment of certain animals is so degraded by human activity, or the animal is over-exploited in such a way that the species itself is unable to reproduce at a rate that covers up for the number of individuals lost.

Even if this fish, or any other threatend fish for that matter, is able to breed in captavity, it will in no way affect the numbers in the wild.

A scary thought: there are a handful of other fish species which are found only in the aquarium hobby, and no longer in the wild. That means that, as far as anybody knows, 100% of that species' population exists in captivity. One example is the Red-tailed shark, Epalzeorhynchus bicolor, which will no longer be found in its previous natural distribution.

SPP refers to the entire species or family thereof

The lake victoria eco system has been severely damaged due to the introduction of nile perch as food for the locals..the nile perch desimated the local lake victorian cichlids..i think most of the lake victoria cichlids are endangered..we only got 2 or 3 species available here in south africa
