Are those nipped fins I see? They are really cool tuxedos and hybrids. :)

I need some help with guppies.
I have a small tank (1 1/2 foot) in my office and have 4 females in it.
My lone male recently died. He developed some sort bloated deformity.
My question is that I have noticed that my newest brood of fry have tails that taper to a point instead of fanning out. Is this normal in young fry? Or could it be a deformity passed down from the male?

With guppies, the variety of tail types are endless. This could be one of the following:

Just leave them for now. Don't worry too much. If they can swim, they will live. Just feed them well and they will eventually grow fast.

Nice guppies Cheetah!
Master13 - what TM suggests could be right but I have the same problem in one of my tanks. The tails are pointy. It is not a deformity passed on from the male. This is actually a disease that is very common in guppy fry. It does not affect the adults. I emailed Stan Shubel, a very well known guppy breeder, and this was his response -
"It sounds like your fry have clamping disease. I usually get it in a tank or two once a year. I treat it with the following combinations of medicants: Quick Cure, one drop per gallon. Super Velvet Plus, also one drop per gallon and a tablespoon of salt (Non iodized) per 5 gallons of water. Usually I will retreat with the Quick Cure and Super Velvet Plus three days later. This will normally take care of the problem."
We do not get these medicines here that I know of. I am busy trying to source them.
Hope this helps. Sorry Cheetah if I have hijacked the thread. Mods can move it if necessary.
