Hi Guys
just a quick question,i got given a Jebo R470 fish tank about 3 weeks ago it was already established etc but had no live plants in. i want to put plants in but it only has the standard gravel stone bottom (that stuff that looks like plastic), not much in there just enough to cover the bottom realy, is this fine for plants or i have read somewhere that guys are using that play sand in the bottom of their tanks, which is better.

Welcome welcome :D
We use mostly pool filter sand at the bottoms of the tanks. This will only work with plants that feed from the water coloum as theres no nutrients in the sand
We use silica sand ( a fancy term for good old riversand ) Plants grow like a bas?>{d....
just make sure it is well washed - and I mean when your arm is sore is probably has not been washed enough.
To wash the sand just put about a third in a 5 litre ice-cream container add water till about half full and swirl with your arms and hands. and repeat - many times - when the water is clean and clear after swirling it is ready to go.
Welcome to TASA Husham :)
