hey guys iv been surfing the net looking at plants and im thinking maybe the narrow leafed ludwigia(ludwigia arcuata) might be what im looking for, possibly even the red form (ludwigia repens x arcuata) could be nice. so can i get hold of this easily? does anyone know where i can get it in the pta or joburg area? also any experience you,ve had would be greatly appreciated, its going to be used in the background of my betta setup as im looking for something fine leaved.

I think it is on the prof's plant list .. let me check ...

Edit:

Nope does not look like it .. but I have something green in my tank - if you can not get it anywhere let me know - I should be able to get a few stems to you.

L. repens is readily available, look out for it at you LPS.L. arcuata is more difficult,or might not be available at all.Have it at good authority that it is not available in S.A..
L. brevipes could be easier to find but could be difficult grow.
Good luck.

Windfire why not one of rotala species. Also fine leaved and looks quite cool.

hmmm yes i like the R. indica just looked it up now. and has the extra bonus of being easy to propagate so could get just one plant make cuttings and plant those. ok heres the space where i'll be planting whatever i choose, i want to make a contrast between the the hard rock and the softer finer foliage. i could use cambomba but its apparently blacklisted and im liking the idea of abit of red foliage more and more:bigsmile:. the tanks 25cm high so i would be wanting something that wont get to high. by the way the top part of the rock formation comes off making it easier to clean and it would allow for easier pruning.
