I recently build a 3ft tank. Running a tropical setup. Started with some, guppies, platties, neons and 2 pleco! Im up and running for two weeks now and all going well so far. All seems stress free. My local fish shop gave me some advise on my plecos. Said i must give them some baby Marrow. Boil it for 3 - 6min so it will go down to the bottom of the tank. The plecos really seem to love it. Is this harmfull to the balance though? Must i leave it in for longer than a few hours?

Louis I remove my fresh veggies as soon as I see they have lost interest in it. I play by 'rather safe than sorry'. That usually lasts about 30min or so - I know of some people who leave it in their tank overnight and remove it the next morning though.

Louis as a matter of interest, last week I left a piece of cucumber in my tank for 24 hours, just to test the theory, lost my catfish the day after even though I did a water change as the water stank so badly (I'm not saying it was just because of the cucumber but that was the only thing I could pinpoint it to). Never again - rather safe than sorry from now on ...

Ola Miss Cautious :) lol

Try using baby marrow (coooked or uncooked) for your bottom feeders. Mine (when I used to have those fish) absolutely loved it. Slice through the marrow and attach it to a stainless steel fork
