Hi all

What I would like to do, with this experiment, is to find out what works the best: CO2 or Flourish excel

I hope jou all will enjoy this little experiment.
I set up Two 64cm tanks with: Palm Fibre Peat fertilized with Chemicult
capped with the same gravel and of cource the profs drops
the difference comes in, that one tank is on Flourish excel and the other is on Tetra plant co2-optimat
-ps the same filter as well
-lights: they both have 2x15 t8 Sylvania Aquastar 10000k lights on for 10 hours a day.
They are both running on Cascade 300 filters rated at 300 lt p/h
The tanks will be named and referred to as follows

Tank 1 (Flourish excel)
Flourish Excel is added 3 ml every second day and is consisting of hair grass, glosso stigma and a fine leaved plant (do not know name)
This tank is one day old and the peat fiber has not colored the water yet, but by tomorrow morning, I bet it will.

Tank 2 (Tetra Plant CO2-Optimat)
The green tube is filled once every morning with CO2
This tank also has some hair grass, glosso stigma and fine leaved plant and some other plants as well.
This tank is running for a week now and the tannins is starting to go away
This tank is home to 23 white clouds and will get some otto's as soon as I can catch them

Any comments or suggestions will be greately appreciated and some plant clippings for testing. I will try to post picks on site tomorrow...

Sounds cool, would like to see what happens. You would have to add fish to tank 1 too if
it is going to be fair. You also need to add the exact same amount of plants to each tank of the same kind.
Always good to see what the reults are.

Want to do the same type thing but to test what kelvin bulb have what result.

TANK 2

the pic so far
@vis- well I need more plants for tank 1 (hint, hint)
tank 1 now has 10 white clouds and one oto
tank 2 has 13 white clouds and two oto's

Tank 2 it seems if you fill the green tube to the end the co2 goes into the water quite fast and will need refilling at least 2 to 3 times a day and I'm not home in the day(?)

I'm looking for moss to add to the tank I have the normal jawa moss, but would like to get some flame moss, so if someone can spare me some, I would be very grateful.

there is already a difference in the tanks it seems that the mos in tank 2 is responding with new growth. on the tips of the java mos,

Seachem has already tested this ,on the website they say something like this : if co2 is a 10 for plant growth ,then flourish is a 6 .....

This is a good test but its already going to give the wrong results ,everything has to be the same ,plants ,fish etc all has to be done in the same amounts .fish and plants should also be of the same size .....

Cheers
