The problem with these Malawis is just That!!!... they are Malawis.... They're always in a mixed tank full of Malawis and their names are never displayed seperately so that we can also get to distinguish between the different ones.... That is a Malawi you have there... He! He!

Looks like a yellow morph of Tropheus tropheops....

Is that a plain yellow fish with white/pearlish highlights on the top fin, around the gill area possibly in the tail and head as well?

well now you see why its important to buy fish from a source that knows fish and also one thats reputable enough to have their customers interests in mind,i see many tanks where especially malawis the fish are not 100% identifiable becoz the individual that bred them initially was concerned only about profits,I do understand that it is a cost to breed fish(yup I know that)but your output is only equal to your input......SORRY to deviate from the topic(leave it up to the mods) I feed my fish the best that I can afford and some guys are amazed at the growth rate of some ofmy fish and of babies.i say to all of you seeing that you are on this forum it neans that you have internet access and also means that you can research almost all the fish that you see in the petshops or whoever.
So if you are into malawischeckout whats from the lake and try avoiding what looks undentifiable........................

Normally, pet shops have a tank with "Mixed Malawis" not meaning that there are a few different species in 1 tank but cross strains and basically unidentifiable when compared to pure strains.

I have only seen Labidochromis and Pseudotropheus crosses being sold.
