Noticed a bit of a film on the surface of my tanks water. So I decided to give a DIY surface skimmer a go...
Here is the end result..

I used a CD spindle as the the main container and a small pump.
It takes a bit of fine tuning to get the flow in and flow out balanced, if you don't, you either get no surface cleaning or just bubbles coming out the pump.
Yes there are better ways of doing this, i was just bored and i thought i would share.
