Blacklisted fish

Hello,

I just saw some comments about blacklisted fish in the Photo Gallery section - where can the current blacklist be found? I never even thought about this until I read about it just now!

I expected something I'd be able to memorize so as to not by accident buy something that I later discover I don't want. This is a bit daunting, but thank you none the less.

I do think that as a matter of principle one should not support (be a market for) any type of contraband.

This means that I need to start doing better planning, which I should have started long ago in any case! I realize that I need to give better consideration of what I want in the tank before I buy. To date I pretty much bought whatever was in the shop. At least I did ask the sales guys for some advice on compatibility, but other than that I just bought whatever didn't seem to expensive and looked pretty :-)

Now I at least have a place where I can ask some questions!

Why dont you look at getting a good book? Aquarium Atlas Photo Index 1 to 5 by Hans a. Baensch and Dr. Gero w. Fischer is well worth the +-R400 it will set you back.

Best is to go see what the shop has, ask them to keep it for a few hours, log onto the net and do a search on fish.

Geez, I'm learning so much here - I'm ashamed to say that I didn't even realise that there was a blacklist....
