BIGGEST LOL EVER! It's been cold, but not THAT cold. I doubt that this is true... Where did you get this from...? The first few look a bit like seapoint, but the second lot are not anywhere that I recognize. interesting pictures though.

Have seen these photo's before. Definitely not by us... altitude isn't right for the ocean to freeze down here. There's no more snow on TM either so I highly doubt there'd be any snow lower down on the ground.

Wish it was true though... I'd go buy a pair of iceskates right now :D

These pictures have been doing their rounds for a few years now. Every time CT get's a little bit of snow they send these pics out to make us think it's cold there. What CT don't realise that even if they have snow, their temps still remain above 0 and go up to 15 of higher. It's just the wind that makes it colder.

In Jhb, in NO WIND we have down to -7 (as per this week).. and the highest we've had this week is 6 degrees. (Granted today is probably 11)

Needless to say... the pictures are fake..

Guys this is not ice, its foam. When we have these storms Moullie Point always has this foam, that looks like ice, all over the place.

Keep your fires burning and make the circle bigger.

Kind regards,

Dirk

What about the poles?

I think the foam hangs there and looks almost like ice, or someone has used paintshop pro very carefully......

You guys should try to find some pics of when the ship the Seafarer went aground there about 40 years ago. I was there as a young boy and the sea was absolutely vicious in the same sort of winter storm. It broke up this large ship in two or three days and this type of foam was everywhere.

Kind regards,

Dirk

Yes, spot on, you can see that the hull is cracked in the middle, that was because of the seas pounding against the ship. There are pics of the waves breaking right over the ship, so you must know how large they were and the sea looked like Cappucino.

Kind regards,

Dirk

Well, as a young boy, I thought this was rather exciting. I was holding onto those railings with the rain pouring down my face and this crazy sea in front of me. Can't remember much more, but those waves going right over the ship are etched in my mind. By then they had fortunately pulled the poor suckers off the ship, but that ship took an absolute hammering and it showed how powerful the seas of the Cape of Storms were. You do not mess with Cape Town sea in these sort of storms, I think some folks were rescued off a yacht a few days ago.

Takes me a few years back this does....

Kind regards,

Dirk

PS: I think the open land on the first of Linxie's pics is where the WC stadium is now positioned, if I am not mistaken, WOW!

I can just picture it. Makes me think of Wolraad Woltemade for some reason.
Very true, one should not mess with our waters period. Nothing wrong with going into the ocean, but one should always be careful. I nearly lost my life to the Milnerton Lagoon when I was 6.

LOL Troy, you beat me too ;) :D

Professor, I think it is :) We have an ooooold photo of Table Mountain and surrounds in our reception area and that space doesn't even have the old greenpoint stadium yet.

Henk,

You naughty boy, you know that you are not allowed to eat any more magnums......

Rudi,

You need to have you mind read, or was the missus watching your six-pack......

f-fish,

Die kaap is lekker man, but you must earn a lot of cash in Gauteng before you can come back, the more the better because you can then come back and settle down, it is an old syndrome. Sterkte boet.

Kind regards,

Dirk
