Hey guys does anyone have any advice on setting up a brackish tank?I have followed a few site but the fish look uncomfortable so if anyone has a a set way please could they let me know.

what type of salt did you use?

You need a specific gravity of 1.010 which you need to get by adding marine salt, not normal salt....

Yea i know i been using Sera sea salt i have used and have tried a few other makes such as redsea and have not had and succes or should i say i did up till now

Its just over 7.5 as per a few site i read up on.I am using a sera hydrometer.So im not to sure what im doing wrong i have ever gone as far as buying water life Vitazin hing it was a problem that the were not eating properly hey

try slowly getting the PH up to 8. Also find someone with a refractometer.

Don't you get a filter specifically meant for brackish setups?
I saw one before and it has some fine sand (or at least it looks like it) in it and the lil contraption looks quite cool.

You sure that wasnt a fuilised sandbed filter or a diatome filter?

Lol i have not even heard of these filters i was told the salinity was the key and i just need to make sure i don't have a under gravel filter as it will not work.

OK the DH is 10 the amonia is 0.3ppm the NO2 is 0.5 and the NO3 0.1 is the GH is 12 and the KH is 12.IM reali not sure what is wrong i know the NO2 is a lil but i have done water changes 30 % weekly treated and salted with Sera Sea salt.
I shall check the results myself when i get home as my brother did it for me wen he was at my place this morning

It's ok im working on it trying to slow get the ph up them i will go from there an go threw every problrm resolving it one at a time
