Hi,
My tanks been running a month and I found this algae growing on my heater and nowhere else in my tank. So maybe it has something to do with the heat?
But anyway, an ID would be much appreciated so can I know whether I need to do something about it or not.
Thanks,
Kelly

Hi Kelly,

Take a look at the below thread. It has a link to a site with the different types of algae there and how to deal with them.

Thanks Big G.
Unfortunately, I looked at the link before I started the thread.
If I'm being seriously dumb (check my join date :)), I'm sorry, but I can't ID this algae. I won't even suggest the few I think it may be for fear of making myself look like a real you-know-what.

Hi Kelly,
The algae seems to be green dust algae,GDA,it usualy only forms on glass for some reason. If it is only on the heater,I would leave it.
GDA is one of the "less" harmful algaes.
