I'm really excited about getting a puffer and want to make him/her really happy, so I've decided to do a South East Asian Biotope.

I've read up on a few of the plants that are required, but was hoping I could get some advice from you guys 'n gals aswell.

I really would have liked to start on this tank so long while we wait for the puffer, but alas, there's a lock on my wallet and his name's Gareth so I have to wait a while. :push:

lol this'll be our 3rd tank since starting in December... flippen scary man! I can see us looking for a new place before the lease is up

Looks like you got MTS, hehe.

What species of puffer is it? I assume its the dwarf puffer if you going to put plants. The substrate should be sandy but try to add some red gravel or small stones because apparently the substrate where they naturally occur contains a lot of iron. Not too sure about this though. I would also decorate with some smooth rocks and driftwood.

With dwarf puffers make sure the tank is well planted.

Yes I have it badly :D

It's for the red eyed puffer. Have read up here 'n there that there environment is mostly SE Asian.

I think a reddish substrate would look stunning.

Thats Carinotetraodon irrubesco. I am not sure if the area where they are found (sumatra) also has the red in the substrate like dwarf puffers.

From what I've read, the substrate is a reddish brown. Then again, I've only really read two articles so far.
