The Zebra Plec, Dwarf Cichlids, and now for the touchy one,
Shrimps! why does no one have shrimps in SA I have seen the I know they are here but no one can get them for me.
I am also looking for some plants but I will get to that later for now I am looking for these...

Hey bud

I am looking for the Panaque Plec or Royal Plec...These are availiable from time to time, but are kinda expensive and when they do show up, they don't come in big numbers and sell quickly. For your best bet, ask one of the sponsers to bring some in for you.

The Zebra Plec,Not likely. As far as I know, export from their countries of origin has been banned, and only captive bred specimens are avaliable. They are one of the most expensive freshwater fish in the hobby, and I only recommend serious breeders to buy this species.

Dwarf Cichlids, That shouldn't be too hard. Besides the sponsers here who have excellent lists of species avaliable, you can also ask other members on here who are breeding them. They may have some for sale, or, if you're lucky, get some for free!

Shrimps! why does no one have shrimps in SA I have seen the I know they are here but no one can get them for me.Illegal in South Africa. All freshwater inverts are illegal here (well for now anyway, the law may change soon). Occasionally some come hitch-hiking on the plants you buy, but they're most often the see-though species, and aren't that attractive anyway.

Good luck
SA

SA I know this is the problem with everything you have mentioned, The Zebra Plecs a re absolutely one of the most attractive Plecs i have ever seen...
and the Panaques are retailing at around R950, the cheapest I have seen and that for Juninles that may or may not servive... I dont mind paying but this is extreme....

The Dwarf Cichlids I have kinda seen in the sight just thought I would ad it in to my list...the Shrimps I know they illegal, but I also know they are here, seen them in shops and even been told by some guys that there are breeders here... so I am trying my luck...

You say the law maybe changing why you say that do you know some inside info?

And how can a NOOBIE get those lists.
Speaking of lists I have one from someone that can get me the shrimps but I need a large order do you think there are guys here who would be interested in?

SalmonAfrica

Zebras don't get big, Royals don't get especially large either, although for all purposes, 2 feet is a tad small.

Lizid

I have a little problem at the moment in that space is my problem so the 2ft will have to do, unfortunitly... I dont think I will be doing the plecs till I get what I am looking for... I will not just put fish into a tank again, this being said... I will only be buying when I am good and ready even if this means my tank is empty for months.

so I will use the fish I have at the moment to keep the tank healthy and then I will start to add once I have the right fish...

Zebras don't get big

a good mate of mine has around R35 000 worth of zebra plecs in a 4ft tank - madnes

Vis
30-03-2010, 19:11
Ok my mistake, thought plecs all needed big tanks.
Might now even consider a zebra.
What are the minimum tank size for these guys?

Henk Hugo

Vis - let me just devide the R35 000 into a figure per fish - R2916.66 per fish including freight....

Vis
30-03-2010, 19:19
Ok that's just nuts. Does he breed them Henk.

Henk Hugo
30-03-2010, 19:25

Prof can only moderate in his own forum (and sponsors can moderate their own forums). ie. they can edit/delete/move posts/threads.
Zebra Pleco can do the same but anywhere on the forum and can ban.
And obviously I can do pretty much whatever.

No other mods.
