Painting the house, will fish live?

Good Sunday to all.

My folks have told me that they are intending to paint the house from tomorrow...

I have tanks scattered around the house, most of the I can drain halfway and move. The problem ones are a 2ft and a 3ft , the 3ft being the big issue. It is in my room which is going to be painted.

What are the solutions? Do I have to move it out? can i cover with cling wrap and put an air pump in and one way valve out?

Anyone with experience or knowledge of the matter please let me know

This is always a difficult one. You would want to use paint with very low odour levels if possible, but seeing as you are most likely not buying the paint you will not have much say over this.

I would suggest keeping the rooms VERY well ventilated, covering the tank in order to try and minimize fumes coming in as much as possible. Other than relocating the fish there is not too much more I could think of to do. Good luck!

What I would also recommend is to cover the tanks as good as possible. Cling wrap can work well. Then maybe get long air tubing and move your air pumps to the outside of the house to pull clean air into the tanks.

if u try to move tank dont take shortcuts , tanks MUST be completely empty to avoid disaster .

Yeah...can imagine the tank cracking or something. Think I may empty it and then use it as an opportunity to change the substrate...bad timing though...varsity starts 2moro...
