Hi guys,

I have been keeping 4 yellow zebra's for the past year. Thought i would join here to get more info, tips and here what other people are doing.

I have a 140 litre coffee table.

I am in Cape Town and would like to know where you guys go to find cichlids?

Hey welcome to TASA!! We would love to see pics of your tank sometime!!

Most LFS should stock a range of cichlids!! I know that Sam's usually has a good selection!!

Thanks. Will post as soon as i find my digi cam.

It's a great tank, looks awesome. But i can't find new lights. It has 4 t5 10w and i can't find it anywhere.

Also need to clean out an old tank i found to put my two females in. They are holding. It has happened previously but i guess they swallowed the fry or something cause i never got to see the babies.

Ecopets & Aquariums in Parklands.....they always have rare & good quality cichlids

Hi guys,

Thanks, will go check out builder's "whore" house and ecopets.:p

The light issue seems to be a porblem, can't find a 33cm t5 anywhere on the web. So i don't think anyone in SA will stock them.

Will try and post a pic of the tank now. I stripped a female cichlid for the first time on tuesday. Wasn't even sure if she really is holding or not.

About 20 little guys came out. They can swim and looks okay, just hope that i can feed them.

Just trying something else. How do most of you post pic's?

Will crushing the flake's into powder work for feeding the fry? I try and release the powder above them but can't really see if they are eating or not.

Thanks Speedz!

Ok, all the baby fry are dead.:sad2: I think they still had their yolk sacks. So i probably stripped them too soon.

Anyway, took the other holding female out and will leave her untill she hopefully spit them out.

The previous two times that they were holding i didn't know if they were sick or pregnant and did not have a holding tank. Never saw the babies on both of those occasions.

I hope now that she is alone in holding tank everything will be better this time around. No more stripping for me in the mean time.
