View Full Version : Filter material
In a canister filter there are these baskets with white filter material.
I believe to replace these you can use something called batting which you can buy from curtain and/or fabric shops?
Anybody used this stuff? Any opinions on it?
i use it , its way way cheaper. Just make sure it hasnt been treated with anything

1 = filter wool, fine white fluff stuff from LPS etc
2 = batting, used to line warm clothing, can be bought at places like Metro etc, also fluffy and will do a good job at manual filtration, cathing alot of gunk
I just buy the AKWA massive sheet (roll) of filter material.
Pretty damn cheap if I recall, just cut and fit.
In the CF I use the Fluval stuff for foam pads, just because cutting the filter material is a pain in the ass, and I use Ceramic rings in the other baskets, except polishing pad in the lowest one, and ammonia/carbon mix.
R12/running m of batting, AKWA stuff is a rip off
We use batting in our sumps and it works fine...

No its what was called think pink before. The company making it is as far as i know isolite. The floss is made of 100% recycled plastic and you get it in 40mm 50mm and 100mm. The 100mm looks to me quite corse
