Hello from new member

Just popped in to say Hi to all.
Have just registered on this site.

A little bit of info about me and my hobby:

I've been keeping & breeding tropical fish for approx 12 years now and marines for about 3 years on and off.
My current tropical setup is as follows:

Tank size : 800 x 400 x 400
Internal power filter ( Resun ... not sure what model)
Resun air pump
150 w Heater
Aquaglo single fluorescent

Current fish :

1 x Clown loach
7 x Neon tets
1 x Plecostemus
2 x Elephant nose fish
4 x Lemon tets

Plants : NO PLANTS ! I have found most of my fish to be a nuisance when it comes to maintaining good plant health. They normally nibble away at the leaves and stems until the plant eventually dies off. So the alternative has been to go with some plastic plants . Yeah , I know it's probably not the right way to go, but it works for me .

My current setup has been scaled down significantly, due to the fact that I am converting my large tank ( 65 g) to a marine reef tank.:bigsmile:

welcome welcome! you need to get more clown loaches as they are social animals and needs to be in a group of 5 or more

Thanks for the note Henk. Yes, you are quite right. I need more clowns in my tank.
BUT ... let me provide some additional information :

My original tank ( now empty) was a 65g tropical tank with mainly Malawi's , Firemouths , Corydoras , Clown loaches and Plecost's. I started the tank approx 8 years ago and have made changes to both fish and plants over the last few years.
After 5 years I only had one clown loach remaining in the community tank, and he had grown up to be a fair sized specimen. I'll try and upload some pic's in a new post.

OK. so this is what my original 65g tank (now empty) looks like. This is the tank I will be converting to Marine reef within the next few months ( Depending on budget)

Pictures below are of the old tank (65 gal) .

The brown tinge in the water was due to the driftwood.
Man, I remember trying everything to stabilise the driftwood, but to no avail.

This is what my new setup looks like at present.
The tank is only about 3 weeks old. I forced a quick cycle in the tank by adding some "food" for the bacteria and affecting water changes. Not something I would neccessarily recommend since it can backfire horribly and you can end up with algea blooms and really smelly water.

Anyway, as I mentioned before the "new" tank was basically only set up so that I can empty my old 65g tank to prepare it for Marine.
In the mean time I've decided that I will keep both marine and tropical tanks ( Will have to see if the wife agrees with me on this ... hehehe).
The "castle" ornament in the new tank was the wife's idea. Not my preference, but anyway.

You'll see that my clown loach is by far the largest specimen in the tank. Measuring approx 10cm in length. The lemon tets and elephant nose fish were hiding at the time the photo was taken. Will see if I can get some better shots next time.

Oh yes, BTW: I made a mistake in stating my new tank dimensions. They are not 800 x 400 x 400 as stated previously . This is another tank I will be using as a sump for my marine setup.
