Great Idea, Kribs.
Worth a sticky as well as Solex69 and Henks 5c..
Although from Henk it would probably be about R2.50 :) Sorry Henk couldnt help the little jab..
As a newbie plant guy, I have been caught out once or twice by the LFS.
I've bought plants before that when I took them out the basket, the roots had already rotted away, and the stalk was pitch black and going rotten too!

+1 Me too
Same here! I Have lost a lot a cash because of the LFS not keeping the plants right

Some i know, excuse spelling
Spatifilum - peace lilly, hates wet feet, will root-rot
Carex - has green leaves with white/cream stripe running its length, bog plant, used in waterfeatures, will eventually rot if completely submerged
Dracena - leaves from the center stalk, will rot quickly
Dwarf mondo grass
Looks like you got peace lily and mondf grass there (bottom left to right) from what i can see on my fone. .
My Dwarf mondo grass seemed to survive??? It didn't grow... but didn't die.
I just took it out because I wanted something else

Lol, wow. It survived? Luckily it didnt grow, the roots can go a bit bos when it grows. (In a small bonsai pot, it will suffocate the tree's roots with its own)
I got suckered too, could have bought something useful with that cash:(
I think I've had Mondo grass in my tank...
It was dark green with relatively hard leaves like, well, grass.
It started dying and when I pulled it all out the roots were all black and rotten. Made a royal mess of my water!
I think this should be a sticky thread...

I once bought this one really tall grass-like plant (mainly because it was on special), but it turns out it wasn't really aquatic... the plant died and messed up my filter with all the mess it made.
Strange thing was that I found out it wasn't aquatic when, one day when I was walking home, I saw some planted in someone's garden...
another fake one.:wondering:

What is the name of the plant you listed, on an earlier tread it was speculated that this plant is possibly not aquatic, but nobody could say for sure or give a name.
i neva found the name. The plant died after two weeks in my tank. i dont know if it is an aquatic plant.
