Green water in new tank

I just started my hobby. I’ve got a 60cm x 30cm x 30cm tank. It’s about a week old now but its becoming very greenish the water. I read on another site that it’s because it’s a new setup and that the balances are not right yet but that it would get better in a few days and that this will not harm my fish. Is this true and can anyone maybe give me any advise?

How long has the tank been running and what equipment and fish do you have in there?

Its been running for about 6 days now.

equipment I’ve got is
1 60cm x 30cm x 30cm tank
1 Gravel filter
1 small platform filter
1 dophin 7500 air pump
1 dophin 150 watt heater
1 air stone
gravel and a few rocks

Fish I’ve got are

7 neon tetras
4 guppies
3 snails
2 plates (I think that’s what they are)
2 plecostemus
3 different plants

The equipment seems ok but the reason you're having problem is that the system is too young to have any fish at all, nevermind the amount that you've got in there. I would recommend that you do daily 50% water changes for the next month or so. You should add one of the bacteria starter culture products to the water (Seachem Stability, Cycle, Organic Aqua, Sera Nitrivec etc) as well as your usual dechlorinator.

i would also get rid of the 2 plecos and replace them with 4 Ottos

Oja and how long should a tank be running before I put any fish in if 6 days isn't enough? I guess i should not listen to the pet shop next time!

+- a month.... i would get rid of the 2 pleco ASAP as they are sh!t machines

aah D@mn. i liked them they are still small 5 cm. i got them to help with the algae problem . i didn't think they would make it worse. and i spent allot on food just for them. I got a friend that wants them ill give them to him. BTW Henk Hugo are you a pilot. I saw in another post something about you flying?
