good Day Guys ,
I have 8 T8 ballasts. I want to put 36w globes in. I would like to know what you guys suggest make and colour?
The tank is 2m Long and 0.5 m deep and 0.5m
I was thinking as per Butcher 3 white and 5 red.
I have discus in the tank and will be keeping plants
I'd rather go the T5 route if it were me, tubes are much brighter....
My setup will be getting the following soon, if I ever get the pendant back from repairs:
3 Sylvania Grolux ie pink
2 Daylight ie yellow/6500K
2 Skywhite ie 8000K
1 Actinic ie 20 000k
Also planted Discus tank but 120X45WX60H

nothing wrong with T8 especially if you got 8 of them in the tank.
also you can put reflectors behind each light to maximise the amount of light going intothe water.

maybe only 1 x 20000k light and add more growlux. i dont think you need to cover the entire spectrul i think most plants only use light up to about the 10000k range anyway. The blue is just for a presonal prefrence i.e. making the tank look nice and showing off the coulours of the fish diffrently.
altough alot has to do with the light requirements of the plants you wanna keep
are 36 w lights are 1200mm long?

here is a quick stetch on how you can setup your lights to maximize the area covered by the lights.
Personally id go with 4 white and 4 red, but thats up to you.

lol we gathered that aqua. do you know which plants and which fish you wanna keep? cause some plants have diffrent lighting requirements and their needs will determine what lights you have to put in.

well nothing wrong with asking :) why dont you look around and see what plants you like and go from there. same gose for the fish you wanna keep. See what you like and do a little research. Find out things like what Water requirements they have and compatibility with other tank mates. and ask lots of questions here on TASA.
