It was with great sadness that I heard this morning from Eugene's fiance’ Loretta that he has passed away in the early hours of Thursday morning, after a brave fight against illness
Eugene was a regular visitor to the forum and several TASA Cape folk have come to know him and have kindly assisted him with his rejuvenated hobby over the past year. His new tank was a real joy and much needed distraction for him. Life was not kind, about two years ago he was paralysed from the waist down and a year later was diagnosed with cancer. During his good spells and when he found the energy, he was busy organizing everything for a second tank that he had acquired. Just ten days or so before his death I received an excited text from him saying his kribs were breeding for the second time.
Rest in peace bud, you fought against all odds and often with a sense of humour, you were an inspiration to many of us.
I have included a quick phone pic of Eugene and the day he proudly released his fish into the new tank. Many thanks Rudi, Gert and the various others that made this all possible.
For those interested and that knew Eugene I can pm you the letter from Loretta and the funeral arrangements for next week.
