Seems like a type of internal parasite. What colour is her excrement?

Try feeding her some bloodworms soaked in garlic juice every two or three days.
When her excrement is thick and dark, she should be clear of the infestation.

she eats really well! this is why i'm concerned. I've had her since 16th December and she is just getting thinner and thinner :-( she is in my QT tank with 4 platys who are doing great.
she has a normal brown coloured poop.

The fish almost looks paralyzed. Might be a birth defect?

so should i cull or keep?
I dont want to have to cull her if she would be fine to introduce to my main tank later on?!? but dont want to keep her if she is going to suffer and die from wasting away :-( shame, she is really such a sweet fish!

If you do decide to try the garlic remedy or any other medicated food, please let us know how it goes.

People say shock them with Ice cold water but I've done it once with water that was semi frozen and it didn't work!!!!!!!!!! SO i would say don't try that. Lets see what other members recommend

Hi there, get some clove oil at the pharmacy, put the fish in a different container with water. Add a few drops of the oil. Do it gradually and the fish will basically go to sleep and die without stressing her to much at all.

I know it is horrible, but with the clove oil have put down a few fish and it really made me feel better since it wasnt really freaking them out. And rather put her out of her misery than let her suffer more.

Yeah everybody hates that. Had to do it this morning with a black neon which tail disappeared and the spine was already sticking out the back.

Phinix ,shame, the clove oil did a good job.
Filled a small container with the tank water and placed her into it. When she was in still water you could just see her relax, not having to fight the filter flow anymore. I added a few drops of clove oil every minute or so, it was a gradual process but was effective and 'peaceful' she didn't freak out one bit ! after i was sure she had gone to sleep i put her into the freezer for a few hours before disposing of her.
