Hi to all
I am currently setting up a 200 litre tank (+-52 gallon tank). Dimensions 1meter x 0.45 x 0.50 high
I need advice on:
1) I plan keeping 3 to 4 angelfish. How many Angelfish are suitable for a tank this size?
2)What schooling fish are compatable with AngelFish?
3) What other fish are compatable with AngelFish?
4) Will rummynose tetras be a good tank mate for Angelfish?
5) Any other advice?
Thanks
I had an 220L with 5 angels (full grown), but I would suggest 3 max. Lemon tetras are suitable with angels, hatchet fish aswell.
angels need lots of swimming space!!

In my opinion, you can keep @ least 4, the problem is when 2 pairs of, it will only be suitable for them, as they become teretorial and start atacking the other angels as a pair, they get verry agresive and the ballance of your angels might die of stress.
Then regarding to schooling tank mates, it has been a debate on here many many times, but once again the advice I can give you is, buy your angels as small as you can, then @ the same time buy your schooling fish like Ruumy`s, neons, cardinals, glowlights, lemons etc. When the angels are small the tetras will be to big to eat, and as long as the angels have grown up with theses guys, they will not consider them as food, but if you buy large angels and add the tetras, they will get eaten, and it will cost you.
Dont forget some Corry`s about 5 should do well as vacuum cleaners.

Thanks. Think I am going to settle for, 4 corry cats, 3 angels and a school of rummy nose.

Sound good, I would add a BN as well, will help controlling the algae in the tank and they are great fish.
Swordtails also work well with Angels. 1 male with 2-3 females.

Hi Varachhia,
Have a look at the pic that I am showing you below, which is in my lounge. Dimensions 185 x 50 (deep) x 60 (front to back). I keep a large number of my peruvian wild x domestic wild type crosses in this tank (count how many you can see) and I do not the aggression that others refer to here. I think that a certain higher density of angels actually stops aggression and then if you keep the temp at 25 C or below then the aggression is less. Angels will pair off and spawn at temps of 26 and higher and if you keep them cooler than this then you can control the aggression a lot better and actually keep more together. I currently have offspring of these angels available. They are shown on the striped angelfish thread.
Kind regards,
Dirk

Yes, Shihr,
Loads of it. The lights are wrong in this tank, mercury vapours that someone gave me with a light spectrum high in 550 nm. This is a tank that is aimed at fishkeeping and not a tank aimed at featuring as a major planted tanks, I do not use EI on it, just in case you wonder.
This is however off topic, and angelfish are being discussed here.
Kind regards,
Dirk
